KSE, ISMAR sign agreement for holding road shows (Business Recorder)

KARACHI (April 09 2010): The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and the Institute of Securities Management and Research (Ismar) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for holding investment road shows in the different cities of the country. The Managing Director of KSE, Adnan Afridi, and the CEO of the Ismar, Nazish Lutfi, signed the agreement.

Speaking on the occasion, Nazish Lutfi said that around 12 to 18 investment road shows would be organised in the different cities of the country. The first road show would be held in Multan on May 15, 2010 while other road shows would be held at Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala and other cities.

He said that the basic aim for holding these road shows is to educate the people about the capital market. The MD, KSE, Adnan Afridi said road shows, seminars and conferences are necessary to educate people and it is a continuous process. About the road show recently held in New York, he said, the event went beyond the expectations, which was attended by 35 major fund managers.

To a question he said he is happy to see continuous inflows of foreign portfolio investment at the local equity market. He said value investors are coming to invest in the local equity market on medium and long term basis. He said that the available attractive levels are attracting the off-shore investors as the local market is the cheapest in the region.
